"Autophile412 - what's the world got in store?" (autophile412)

Due to the fact that we need to buy a larger home in a better school district soon I am contemplating selling my wagon.
It is a sad day that I make this announcement but I need to look at the big picture here and put on my big boy pants and do what is best for my family.
2001 525iT Manual Transmission. Zero rust. Honestly, the car looks so new it is scary. This is the first winter it has seen being that up until 6 months ago it was a southern California car.
I will take no less than $11k due to the rarity and seeing that it is exactly what I payed for it 6 months ago.
If anyone is interested let me know. If not, no big deal. I will put it on Autotrader in January after I get it detailed.
I have a serious sad about this.

If I lived in CA this would be very tempting.

I live in Pittsburgh PA if that makes it any more tempting. I bought the car from a dealer in LA and had it shipped.

That does make it a bit more tempting, but there is no way the wife is going to let me get rid of a perfectly fine '10 Mazda 3 with only 26k miles for a '01 BMW wagon regardless of how cool it is. :(

That is one thing about my wife. She doesn't insert her opinion in my auto habit. I just looked at all of our finances and if I get rid of the car and a couple other small items, we can buy a new house this summer rather than next.

Yeah we are looking into expanding the house which is going to eat up a lot of monies...so the Mazda will stay for awhile.

No offense because I know nothing about BMW's.
What makes this vehicle a rarity? I Dont know becuase I spend every waking moment thinking of Mercedes's.
Thanks and good luck!

It is a manual wagon. Not too many made it this side of the Atlantic.

Damn, sorry to hear it'll be going. I have no money now but if you sell it on AutoTrader in January I'll keep an eye out.
Good luck with the house! At least the car sale is for a good cause.

If you dont need to sell it right now then try to keep it? Put it in storage and wait until it appreciates a little or just drive it once a week. Sounds like a good find!

Not too many manual 5-Series got sold anywhere, at least not after the '90s started and they got to offer good autos. Even in this low-rent part of Europe i live in, 9 out of 10 BMW 5-ers are slushers.
In other words, this is, if not an outright rarity, but the path less trodden for sure.

I have a loan on it and if I sell it it will not only take that monthly payment away but put a few bucks in savings which will help with the loan approval process of getting a new mortgage.

Ok I see. Well I am sorry you have to part with such a vehicle. Maybe you could find a way to keep her?
Good luck with the selling process
